Club HISTORY


The Pransukhlal Mafatlal Hindu Swimming Bath & Boat Club Trust was established in the year 1939 and is located at Girgaum Chowpatty adjoining the Marine Drive in the city of Mumbai.

With a foresight to build a national tht could compete with any other nation and to promote sports and encourage community development, Late Shri Gagalbhai Mafatlal conceptualised building the club and made a magnanimous donation of Rs. 1,00,000 / - to establish the club.


The club was named in the fond memory of his son, Late Shri Pransukhlal Mafatlal and was inaugurated by Late Shri Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, First Home Minister of India and also fondly known as the Iron man of India, on June 22, 1942.


The club offers a variety of facilities to its Members such as Swimming, Boating, Water Sports, Gymnasium, Badminton, Table, Carrom, Volleyball, Chess, Library, Yoga facilities, Steam and Sauna and play area for children. The Club also offers excellent dinning facilities overlooking the Queen's necklace and give a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea.

Presently, the club has a strong family of over 42,000 members, The Club is charitable trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1951 and offers all the facilities at minimal charges to its Members.

Currently, the club is the only institution in South Mumbai to have an Olympic size swimming pool (50 meters in length). Also, it is the only club in Mumbai to have two separate swimming pool for men and women.

With an illustrious history of the club, our sole endeavour is to ensure that the Members are provided with permier sports facilities and other amenitites to enhance their physical wellbeing and encourage community development
